If you ask me, being kind is a multifaceted practice and its delicate nuances are essential to understanding how to be genuinely kind to those around you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For one thing, being nice is not the same thing as being kind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Being nice is taking the easy way out,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
not pointing out the painful or uncomfortable or obvious,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
while the kind thing points at the red hot elephant in the room<\/p>\n\n\n\n
with a glaring finger, calmly asking you<\/p>\n\n\n\n
to get your life together for your own sake<\/p>\n\n\n\n
because you deserve better than this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Being kind also means taking the higher ground;<\/p>\n\n\n\n
just because someone cannot<\/p>\n\n\n\n
look you in the eyes with the same<\/p>\n\n\n\n
humanity you extend to them doesn’t mean<\/p>\n\n\n\n
you have to disrespect them just the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lastly, kindness is an act that extends<\/p>\n\n\n\n
beyond whom you can physically see and impact<\/p>\n\n\n\n
within your reach and touch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To be kind is to not reap the effects yourself,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
but to know you’re making a greater impact<\/p>\n\n\n\n
than you can see for yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To know you’re contributing to a bigger picture<\/p>\n\n\n\n
that you may not get credit for,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
but isn’t it beautiful that you get to help your<\/p>\n\n\n\n
fellow humans make the world<\/p>\n\n\n\n
more kind and loving than it is?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If you ask me, these are a few of the many ebbs,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
flows, and nuances that make up the culture<\/p>\n\n\n\n
