Hello and welcome! My name is Bailey Savatgy and I use they/them pronouns. I currently live in the scenic mountains of upstate New York and intern with two local publishers. I’m also the social media intern for a small publishing press in Providence, Rhode Island, where I hope to move to someday. I’m a freelance writer and I write about local artists in the Hudson Valley and as well as other topics I’m passionate about. Lastly, I also intern for an arts nonprofit based in Providence, doing prospect research. I recently earned my BA in English with a concentration in Creative Writing. I previously attended SUNY Ulster and earned my AS in Individual Studies, focusing in English, Art History, Fine Arts, and Fashion Design.
Writing has been my lifeblood for as long as I can remember. My first ever creative writing project was in the second grade, writing crossover fanfiction between Star Wars and The Muppets—crossovers between Harry Potter and the Lego Ninjago franchise followed shortly after. Nowadays, I write poetry, romantasy, and the occasional self-indulgent fanfic or two. A lot of my writing comes from my experiences as a queer, nonbinary Korean American transracial adoptee. I’m currently writing a cozy romantasy series about a nine-tailed fox learning how to harness her powers while facing her adoption trauma. The main through-line of the story is, “How do I know what my powers are if I don’t know who my parents are?”
